What’s Your Hurry? (written February, 2004)

It seems to me that most people go to work every day to a job, work 40 hours or so a week and work an average of 40 years of their life. What kind of a retirement are they able to look forward to? Do you think they will have $50,000 a year or more to retire on? Do you think that most people would like to have $50,000 or more a year to retire on?

In Network Marketing, it is possible for a person to retire at better than $50,000 a year in just a few years. So what’s your hurry? Why do these same people want to do it in just a few months?

Do you think you could find one person a year that would like a better lifestyle? Do you think that person could find one person a year that would like a better lifestyle? Do you think that person could find one person a year, etc.? Finding one such person a year is not really a difficult task. If you could do what we just described, you could retire at better than $50,000 a year in just 12 years. That certainly beats taking 40 years through the conventional means of working for someone else! Find two people a year and you can retire at better than $50,000 in just 6 years.

This “sponsor-one-a-year idea,” and everybody doing the same, would net you 40,096 people in your organization by the end of the 12th year. If you would like to verify this, start with yourself. Then sponsor one person your first year. This gives you a grand total of two people in your organization by the end of your 1st year.

The 2nd year, you each sponsor one. Now you have a total of 4. The 3rd year you will have a total of 8 distributors. After that, it will be 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048, and 4096. WOW! Notice how many people come into your organization the last 3 years compared to the first 6 years. This is a result of the power of geometric progression, determination and good old fashioned hard work.

Once people realize the viability of accomplishing the above (one per year), they can try for a shorter period of time – whatever is comfortable for them. For example: sponsoring one person every 3 months and everyone else sponsoring one person during every 3 month time period. By sponsoring one person each quarter and everyone doing the same thing, this would net you to 4,096 distributors by the end of the 4th year instead of the 12th. If you sponsored one per month and everyone did the same, you would get to 4,096 distributors by the end of one year. That’s exciting!

So what’s the point in all of this? You don’t need to be in a hurry. You can secure a retirement from MLM when you persist and persist and persist and just hang in there!

Too many people come into our wonderful industry thinking they are going to get rich in just a few months. Some even quit their jobs prematurely and when it doesn’t happen, it creates a tremendous hardship for them and their family.

That is not a business that you typically learn and then do – it’s a business that you learn while you’re doing it. You can actually earn while you learn. Most people that start in network marketing have a full time job and are operating their networking business part time. It takes most distributors 12 months before they really understand and feel comfortable with the business. It certainly took me at least 12 months!

It’s amazing how people get into network marketing and give up before they even really know what to do. They don’t give themselves a chance. People go to college for 4 years, get their degree and have no hope of retiring in just a few years. For many graduates in these current times, the big challenge is just to get a job!

The number one reason people don’t succeed in our business is because they don’t understand it. If a person understood that all they had to do was sponsor one person each year, and teach and help that person to duplicate the same activity, etc., with the possibility of retiring in just 12 years, don’t you think everyone could and would want to do that? So get started! Remember you can work at your own pace. You can do it in 12 years. You can do it in 4 years. Or you can do it in one year. It’s totally up to you. Why keep working for a living, when you can work for a better lifestyle? Why be in a hurry? The important thing is to do it!
